Raised and educated on the east coast Scott Soens journeyed west in 1998 to start a career in photography and cinematography. His work has been seen in Outside, Huck, and Stab magazines, along with Surfer, Surfing, and The Surfers Journal. In 2001 his skateboarding documentary "Hallowed Ground" won the ESPN action sports award for best sports film. Scott has won the Surfer poll award for best cinematographer in 2001, 2006, and 2009.
Scott's clients include Patagonia Billabong, Quiksilver, Roxy,and Globe. Scott has shot numerous album covers for musicians including Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, G-Love, and Donavon Frankenreiter. His latest work took him to Chile as a cinematographer for the adventure/ecological awakening road trip film 180° South. His still photography for the project can be seen on the cover and throughout the book. Scott's love of life, the planet, the ocean, and all of their inhabitants is uniquely evident in his work.
